The new waterfront esplanade stretches from the Battery Maritime Building to Old Slip. The new walkway is supported by 24-inch diameter steel pipe piles with drill-in rock sockets. Precast concrete caps, planks and edge beams with a cast-in-place topping slab were constructed. The topping slab included in-place electrical conduits and roadway boxes for future light poles and lighted rails. NYCT tunnels run perpendicular to the project piles which required NYCT coordination and vibration monitoring for pile driving activities.
