Work on the new $30 million 650 LF wharf began in April of 2011 starting with demolition of the existing structures and installation of deadman supported PZC-25 bulkhead. This portion of work was critical to the schedule as the project included the dredging of 55,000 CY of material from the existing berth. The new sheet pile had to be installed prior to dredging in addition to the removal of approximately 1,600 timber and steel piles that remained after the demolition of the existing structure. The job started driving piles in December 2011.
