Working under an $18 million contract directly for the New York State Thruway Authority, Trevcon Construction Co., Inc. installed seven test piles at the site of the new Tappan Zee Bridge to provide data for the joint-venture teams competing for the $4 billion design-build bid in August 2012. The test piles were all driven steel pipe piles and included five 48-inch diameter piles, one 96-inch diameter pile and one 120-inch diameter pile – all up to 2 inches in wall thicknesses and 300 feet in length.
